Pan Yanrong’s design language fuses the traditional and the contemporary in an exemplary manner. On the one hand, he pays attention to the traditional Chinese materials and techniques which had been neglected through time, and introduces into his own design processes, book binding techniques, and paper manipulations. On the other hand, he infuses professional experiences into contemporary layout design disciplines, printing techniques, material production, etc. His book design showcases the beauty of Chinese language and culture. Pan Yanrong strives to explore the issues between the traditional and the contemporary, as well as the East and the West through his design practice. He leads the audience to experience the humanistic charm of paper.
