Hanwen Zhengkai is a typeface developed in the 1930s by Zheng Wuchang (1894\u20131952) to create a uniquely Chinese print culture that reflects the spirit of the new era while maintaining traditional essence. It is one of the representative fonts in the East Asian Chinese character cultural sphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founder Type began its digitalization process in 2016. Based on a thorough review of the history of Hanwen Zhengkai, the team collected numerous samples and printed materials of the typeface through various channels for detailed sorting, comparison, and analysis. After setting design goals and concepts, the actual digital restoration commenced. Over six years, this digital restoration and redesign have brought Hanwen Zhengkai back to life as a modern computer font.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
